How can I get financial aid when my parents didn't file taxes?

I have been begging my Mom to fill out my financial aid form but she said she doesn't know what answers to put because they did not file their taxes. Can I just guess? Will a financial aid counselor be able to tell me what to put?

  1. Join the military and then you will get a G.I. Bill.  Also after seeing the world, your purpose in life may change.

  2. You're screwed by your parents.  It's the law that they file taxes.  You will not be able to get any type of aid if you don't fill out the FAFSA.  Your parents and you will have to pay cash like a lot of people.

    Good Luck.

  3. you can fill out her part anyway. You have the option to say "Will file" on their income tax return and just estimate the rest of the information.  If they don't do their taxes soon, you and your folks may have to pay cash for you to go to college.  Remind your parents its against the law not to file taxes.

  4. I would definitely contact a financial aid representative and ask them how to go about this. I'm sure your parents are not the first ones to do this. Also, are you in a position to be emancipated from them since they haven't filed? Do they pay your bills or are you mostly self-sufficient? here's another website that you can look into that will give you more information on financial aid:
