Free software - a subject dear to my heart.

By 'free DVD copy software" i presume you mean software that will allow you to rip the contents of a DVD onto your hard drive so you can do 'stuff' with it?

There are several out there, each of which has pro's and con's. I recommend something like DVD-Flick.

It might also be good to have a look at some of the issues and problems related to Ripping DVD's

Free software: DVDShrink & ImgBurn

NOTE: If you have Nero it works directly within DVDShrink.

DVDFAB HD Decrypter is fab and free.

Use this in conjunction with DVDShrink and ImgBurn (both also free) to make copies of your favourite DVDs.

At one time, it was possible to use DVDShrink alone, but it's quite an old piece of software and cannot get past the copy protection on newer DVDs. That's why you need the DVDFAB software.

I suggest you 3 different softwares to suit your tastes. They're able to do very interesting things.
