How can I get from Bolton to the Alton towers themepark without going in a car?

Me and my friend want to meet our mates from coventry that we've know for ages at alton towers themepark but thing is..Were both 13 and we live in bolton so alton towers is quite far away to us and our parents are prepared to drive us all the way.. If we wanted to go by TRAIN can someone please give us instructions on where to go and what trains to get and also the prices would help..Thank you x
