I am thinking about re-enlisting in the US Navy and want garunteed orders in my contract before I sign to either go to a certain ship or certain duty station in Japan, and the recuritors are saying there is no way to give me what I want untill after I sign up. Is there any say to work around that because I dont want to sign a contract untill I have what I want in it. Thanks for any help

  1. First talk to your Career Counselor, LPO, LCPO and Command Maser Chief.

Next, call the duty station where you want to go, find the LPO for the billet you want want, then talk to the Career Counselor or Yeoman for that billet.

  2. If you do really great in A School, and you are one of the top in your class...you will fill out a dream sheet. You will pick your top 2 choices. Just do really good in A School. Eventually you will get to go where you want.

EDIT: Ok, you are re-enlisting. Try to negotiate after you re-enslist. You may not get it your first tour, but what about your shore duty picks?

  3. Of course the Recruiter is telling you they can't give you what you want UNTIL they have you signed up...once you ARE signed, you belong to them, you will be assigned where you are needed, with little if any choice in the matter...you could make the request but it doesn't mean you will get it...in all reality this is just as it should be, if everyone were given their choice of where they are assigned, certain very desirable areas would be over-run with New Recruits...it just wouldn't work.

  4. I think the recruiters gave you the truth, which you should believe.  NO guarantees.  And so if you don't want to sign a contract until it has what you want in it, think who, if anyone, has the authority to put in there what you want.  If nobody does, then move on if that is non-negotiable.  I think they have you, so don't waste your time any more.

    Or cave in.
