They are 4 & 8 and I want to build a Grocery Store type setting. I figured if they had a grocery store, it would encourage Math. I need any ideas and any possible websites where I could find a Grocery Store playhouse! Thanks!

  1. Instead of building a playhouse, and spending money on that, bring them to the grocery store every time you go, then ask them "can you get me # of this", then lead them from there.

  2. You could make one-

Use cardboard boxes to build, give the children a range of materials such as blankets, chairs, crayons and paper and get them to make it themselves...it encourages creativity alongside the maths! The older one can make signs and price lists too so it encourages literacy and writing.

    Buy:

-One of those pop up or plastic stick type tents---make signs etc to stick on it to make into a shop.

-Buy the plastic playhouse and do same as above.

You can go into grocery stores and maybe ask them for some stuff like reciept rolls, sale signs etc...you can buy aprons like the smocks they sometimes where, make play money either made on the computer and printed off or colour in their own.
