How can I get into Journalism?? Last answer is 10 points?

Now, I would like to write for a online magazine...but how??

r there any magazines where i can get published??

What are they??

Help me out w/ anything u can tell me about getting published!!!

And is there any good journalism colleges in Indiana?

You should look into colleges that have a good journalism program...don't overlook community colleges either.  The community college I'm going to has an excellent newspaper that I used to write for but I'm gonna be design for next semester...so start off by doing that and taking journalism classes to increase your knowledge about mass media, journalism, reporting, writing articles AP style, etc. and take creative writing and English classes as well to strengthen your writing muscle!  Then you could write for the college newspaper, that is the best jumpstart to getting your work published (usually the editors will assign staff writers story ideas to right about and the story/article/column will be published).  By that time, you should have enough networks (other fellow staff writers, photographers, the advisers) to help you get an internship.  Internships are a GREAT way to get into the journalism field as it is very competitive and cutthroat, and usually internships are what makes prospective employers want to hire you because of your real life experience.  Since you want to write for that online magazine, email whoever's in charge of hiring your resume, cover letter, and maybe some clips of your best work.

I'm not sure where you are located in Indiana but I would suggest checking out Ball State. I am going to Kent State now, which I chose for their journalism program and a variety of other reasons but I also visited Ball State and they had an equally impressive journalism school. Look for a school with a daily paper, a good amount of convergence and a lot of media outlets to be involved in. But find one that fits what you want in a college.
