Question:

How can I get into a public high school not accepting me due to enrollment?

Alright so here's the situation. I used to go to a private school, and all but I figured it's just a huge waste of money.

So I wanted to go to this public school but when I went there, they didn't accept me because they claimed that my Home School isn't that. We thought it was our home school, but realized that somehow "THE OPTION FOR THAT BEING A HOME SCHOOL HAS BEEN CLOSED." So yea, my Home School though would be some public school, that let's just say is filled with...well gang activity. They've had some incidents reported in newspapers and stuff.

So then I just did the intra-district transfer. I got the help of the admissions director in my actual HOME school, he signed it and everything and we sent it off to the other school. The other school, didn't respond at ALL. It was like they didn't care. So we had to call them up and ask whether they got it. Guess what they're response was?

"OH YEAH, I got IT - I'm LOOKING AT IT RIGHT NOW" - honestly you expect me to believe that kind of c**p?!?! So then the guy started saying I can't come to the school because of enrollment. So then we asked if we could have an appointment with him. He said sure.

Oh yeah "sure." He made us wait for a whole HOUR from our scheduled appointment. He didn't help at all, he just kept on repeating the words that I couldn't come. He says the teachers will have trouble with just one more student.

I don't mean to brag here...but would a student with a 3.8 GPA, finished taking college courses and got an A on both, and is just extremely quiet when it comes to class be trouble to a teacher? I mean if they are truly a teacher...wouldn't they love to teach students. I guess not. Oh well fine.

So then we made phone calls to the principal. She said she couldn't make an appointment with us. "Wow, thanks for the help lady." We called up the Superintendent; he wouldn't make an appointment with us.

We can't talk with anyone. We have no help whatsoever. My parents are paying high taxes. And by "high" I mean high. And they don't even help us at all?

Any suggestions guys? I would really appreciate it.

  1. If you can, go back to private school.  The school you are trying to get into is already full (i.e. they have so many students now that they won't have a chair/desk for you in their classrooms or the time to grade your stuff), and nothing you say or do can change that.  If you can't afford the private school, you will have to stay in your home school and deal with it.

Oh, and by the way, all the parents of the kids you are competing with to get into your preferred school happen to pay taxes too.

  2. The fact that your parents are paying "high taxes" doesn't really matter in this situation. It is very hard to understand why is it that people like you think that by paying taxes you have paid the salary for all the people who work for the government. I mean the amount of money might seem a lot to you, but trust me when i say that it is nothing compared to what other people say. Now, when it comes to trying to enroll at a school who is not your home school, It is very hard (specially if it is overcrowded). The fact that one school has lots of gangs doenst mean you are going to get involve in them. I graduated from a school with gang bangers, where lots of trouble happenned, and that didnt influence me (my GPA was of 3.9 and i dont brag). The school doesnt make the student, the student makes the school. If you are afraid of the gangs, then just stay at your private school, that is ofcourse, if your parents have money to afford it (i mean they pay High taxes).

And by the way, the fact that you are a good student doesnt mean that a teacher is a bad teacher just because he/she doesnt want to have you in class. But think about it, having 35 children in class, taking attendance, lecturing, supervising, dealing with immature problems, that is alot for one person to do...especially if someone will not appreciate the work..

  3. How many more years of high school do you have left? Do you realize that this is just the tip of the iceberg in the attitude you're going to receive and undoubtedly the quality of the education you'll receive if you go to a public school: there's a big difference between a public and a private school. And remember, these people are all bureaucratic stooges. They don't care how many appointments you make, they're going to tell you "no" just because they can.

My advice if you have more than one year of high school left is to go back to the private school this year, but make sure you do whatever you have to do -- in plenty of time -- to get into the non-gangland public school you want to attend for the next and ensuing years.
