I'm going into my first year of high school in a few weeks. I live overseas but I really wish to get in this one particular school in the States for my sophomore year. Any advice appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

  1. why not google the school's name. their website should give you an idea of what is reuired to apply. most boardings take any kids, as long as the parents can afford to pay the fees.

  2. I'd need a little more information to give a thorough opinion, which boarding school do you want to go to? I do have some rather general advice about the application process for boarding schools in the U.S. The first step is to get out your grade reports for the past few years and compile a list of your extra curricular activities and sports. Look over them carefully and determine how "good" they are and if they will get you into the boarding school of your choice. The next step would be to get on your choice boarding school's radar as soon as possible. Most schools will offer promotional materials of some kind (most likely in the form of pamphlets) that they will mail to you; you can sign up to receive this at the school's website. It's quite important to apply rather early. Most boarding schools in the U.S. have an applications deadline from March to June. But I wouldn't wait past this month to officially apply. Most schools are extremely competitive, and the longer you wait to apply the more likelihood of you being put on a waiting list. However, at some schools, it doesn't matter when you send your application in as long as its before the deadline, because then they will look through the applications all at once so everyone is considered equally. But this policy will vary by school. To find out the school's policy go to the school's official website and look for the "Admissions" page, where it will include all the information from tuition to application deadlines. Like I said before, the earlier you apply, the better. Best of luck.
