Question:

How can I get into the Air Force Academy?

I am a Junior in High School, I am taking 3 AP classes(chemistry,US History,English) Will take, the required amount of years of each class for the academy. Also, I just started my Junior year but I have had average grades in the last two years of High School, But if I perform good in all of my classes, ( that includes the AP Calculus that i take next year) can i be able to be accepted. Also, what ELSE CAN I be doing right now to help me the most to get into the academy? PLEASE HELP!?

  1. Start taking the SAT/ACT, whichever you do better on and then take it a couple more times.  They only ask that you submit your best score.  Play a sport or two or three, and more importantly, be a leader in that sport.  You don't have to be the best player, but be able to show leadership in the team.  Be involved in the community: church, charity, scouts, etc.  Try to get a nomination from everyone you can.  One nomination is required, two can't hurt.  Have a good reason for wanting to go.  They'll ask for a short essay about why you want to be there...so you better be sincere and have a good reason.

  2. Taking some type of varsity sport is really a must. Taking all of those classes will help, but the academy doesn't just look at academics. If there is a JROTC at your high school, try to get involved there or at least ask the head instructor there, regardless if they are Air Force, Army, Navy or Marines.
