How can I get invited to join People to People Student Ambassadors on a trip?

I've been wanting to go on one of their abroad trips for YEARS and think I'm mature and politically aware and smart enough to go. Do you HAVE to get invited, or can you just apply?

And if you have to get invited, how does one get an invite?

well i got put into the program by my teacher last year... i have no idea what she did but i think they fill out some forms and they start sending you the papers...another way is that a current people to people student nominates someone. you can check out their website at www.studentambassadors.org they have various trips for elementary, middle school, and high school students. i myself am leaving for the "heart of the mediterranean" trip this friday. we will be traveling for 20 days to malta, sicily, france, and italy. this will be my first trip but i've heard they are fun and totally worth it. my friend also went on a trip with people to people in the 6th grade to australia for 20 days.... don't forget to check out the website! they will have valuable information there!
