How can I get involved in babysitting?

Question

This is very difficult for me because:

1: I live in a very small town

2: I'm very shy

3: I'm only 11

I want to start earning my own money, but I just don't know how. I like to be around kids so I thought I might start babysitting. My mom said that she wanted to find a babysitting class for me to take but she also said that I should wait until I'm at least 12. I just don't want to wait that long. Can you guys give me a way to get involved in babysitting, or at least some other job that an 11 year old can do?

well im 12 and i do TONS of babysitting and what i did was find someone who knows CPr and learn it from them then put up babysitting flyers in your nieghborhood on poles or mailboxes!!!

ymcas offer babysitting classes and i think they start at age 11. 4-Hs also have classes. it's always a good idea to take a class or learn about first aid and cpr and stuff first.

well if you're interested in babysitting they have classes at the red cross that you could take. I advertised for babysitting by putting up a flyer at the front of my neighborhood or just try and get the word out to anyone you can... always try to make a good impression because if you make a good impression on one mom, they'll spread the word about you. you could also potentially put up a flyer at your church or something?

a relatively easy summer job, if you're an animal person, is to offer to take care of pets while people go away on vacation. usually it pays well, there's really not an age requirement, and it's great for the summer especially since people go away a lot.
