I am a pretty decent putter and im great with my long irons, but I have problems when it comes to delicate chips. This is a big problem because I usually have 100 yards or less into the green. Does anyone have any drills that could help me????

  1. Golf Options: Hit Fairways Your Way is a new and innovative approach to golf instruction. The reason that this book was written was to teach golfers (exactly as the title states) that they have options when they swing the golf club.

Not everyone has the same swing. Therefore, the same thing will not work for everyone. Golfers will have much more success if they experiment and fine tune their swing.

  2. No specific drill....It just takes hours of practice to develop the kind of feel you are looking for. My suggestion is to take a look at these second shots that are leaving you a delicate chip and choose a club that will allow you a distance for a full swing into the green.

  3. make sure your grip pressure is light so you can feel the clubhead. and use a soft cover ball like a prov1 or prov1x. other than that just practice more

  4. i would try playing golf on wii sports because believe it or not i got tons better at golf tennis and baseball. To get yourself more practice at golf you should try golfing with your buddies or visiting mini golf areas plus try competing with ur family and friends so u wont have as much pressure as u would in a real game

  5. You try to use SW at the first time and to image as if you are using the putter to putt a ball, then you use SW putting the ball from narrow to wide putting.

  6. A really good practice drill for this is to go onto the golf course, place yourself at 100 yards or less and practice the shot over and over again with whatever club you choose to use. Good Luck.

    Have a good one...

  7. The best thing you could do is go for a lesson with your local golf pro and they will show you the correct way, then just practice and you will get better in no time!

  8. A couple quick tips:

      1.  If you have problems with making solid contact, focus on keeping your sternum (or the button on your shirt) the same height throughout the entire swing.

      2.  Take the club the same distance thru as you take it back, making sure you always accelerate thru the ball.

      3.  Remember, the body & arms work together here.  Focus on swing thru the ball not just w/ your arms, but w/ the big muscles too, finishing w/ all your weight on your left side.

      4.  Hold your finish until the ball lands.

      5.  If these don't work, open your stance slightly & focus on keeping your weight on your front leg, as in a standard chip.  Sometimes it can become a bit difficult when you get to the shorter shots and feel uncertain as to how much you should transfer your weight, and it also becomes more difficult to clear your left hip out of your way on the downswing, which is why opening your stance is imperative.

    you may have.  Good luck.

PS:  When chipping, try maintaining the absolute lightest grip possible unless you have a very thick lie.  When chipping, here are the 4 keys:  open stance, weight forward, hands ahead of the clubhead, and rock your shoulders.  Remember you decelerating into the ball causes inconsistency, so always accelerate into the ball.  It's what the best golfers in the world do.
