  1. I was told by my PE teacher to breathe in through you nose and out through your mouth to reduce stiches. It worked for me as I used to do long distance running

  2. your getting a stitch because of your breathing, learn a breathing pattern, and you should'nt get a stitch any more

  3. Ahhh the side stitch is definetly not a runners friend. Don't think about your breathing at all. You were born knowing how to breath on your own. Your body will know how to breath when it is running so let your body do its job. I will often hear people say breath in through your nose and out through your mouth. This is not a good solution for everyone by any means. For example. I broke my nose a while ago and if I try breathing in through my nose I can't get enough air and I will get side stitches because of it. some people can breath through there nose and out through their mouth while other breath in and out through their mouth, some breath in through their mouth and out through their nose. Do what is comfortable for you.

Now when you get a side stitch try this to get rid of it. Put your arms above your head, than take a nice big deep breath and lean to the opposite side that is bothering you (if your right side hurts lean to the left) When ever I get a side stitch I do that a few times and the cramp will gradually go away. Good luck and I hope this helps

  4. run through it  and more, hooray.

  5. Basically, just warm up, breathe evenly and run a little further each day.

It could just be a thing where you're just getting tired, or finding it had coping with such a long run

  6. if its on the right side, exhale when ur left foot hits the ground...it has something to do with the ligaments holding ur liver in place, so exhaling on your left foot will put less pressure on said ligaments

  7. Run more and develop a breathing pattern that's good for you.  Once you find that pattern perfect for you, stitches should become much more rare.  If you start to get out of breath, slow down your pace.

^There's a lot of information about preventing/curing side stitches at the site.

I used to always get side stitches but after finding my breathing pattern and getting more fit, they became much less frequent
