Question:

How can I get more power on my serves?

I usually serve around 40-50 mph, but I'd like to serve faster. The person who plays first singles on my tennis team serves around 80-100 mph.

How can I serve faster? Does it require more muscle in the arms and forearms, or quick racket speed?

  1. Make your serve one complete motion..!!!

when u toss the ball.. get both your feet pretty close together.. n jump n  hit the ball in the air..

and always hit the top of the ball.. and land well into the court..!!! but be ready for a quick return!!!

practice this well.. should be slightly tough initially.. but wil definitely work..!!

a good toss wil also help.. and always toss the ball with yours arms stretched out.. so tat u generate enough racquet speed when u hit the ball.. TOSS is crucial..!!

strength is the arms does help.. but u have to get your basics right!!!

  2. legs and core...you should push UP into the ball, thus getting much more power...I'm 5'6 and 110 lbs, and I serve 70-80

  3. When serving, it requires your whole body. You can't just use your arm strength. You can bend your legs when you toss the ball, toss the ball forward a little more, and when you hit it, jump.
