How can I get more volume at the crown of my thick, wavy hair?

My hair is very thick, very wavy and shoulder length. Most days I let it air dry. Since it is so thick the crown gets weighed down and always ends up flat. How can I get more volume at the crown?

  1. i have the SAME prob...i have ne idea how 2 fix it tho

  2. Just turn up the sound...or add portable speakers for more effect

  3. Wow, my long lost twin! :D

Actually, I really have the same problem, and tease it, style it down a little, then hairspray it.

  4. Either pop it in a high ponytail whilst it dries, or just put a bit of mousse at the roots and blow dry upside down.

If its already dry, you can use a bit of hairspray just at the roots and ruffle it with your fingers with your head upside down til hairspray dries.

For a semi permanent solution you could get a root perm - that would work.

    :)

  5. Use volumizer and a teasing comb to tease the underneath layers of the crown hair. It will help give it volume. Use a bit of hairspray to hold as well.

  6. I have thick hair as well and i would recommend going to your hair stylist and asking her to put in some layers, that will lift some of the heavy weight that is "holding" your hair down, put some volume booster in, use your fingers to do a upward wiggle motion

  7. i do this ALL THE TIME,

tease the crown, then brush it out, works miracles for me,

it just gives you that extra UMF,lol
