  1. try some funky music on and think of house work as sports..

    works for me :)

  2. me and my bf are the same, only tidy when people are coming round, we try to have a bit of a tidy up at weekend, as we have no time or energy after work.

i put some good music on and once i start i get quite a bit of the housework done.

  3. answer to this question is the biggest mistery in my life

  4. Hi there,

I find flylady.net a great help - its geared towards people who get sidetracked or are overwhelmed with housework.  based on the premise that you can do anything for 15 mins, and there's no guilt attached when you stop after 15 mins! baby steps and guidelines to getting back on top of things - give it a go! best of luck

  5. First you have to turn off your computer! Then back away slowly don't make any sudden moves! Go into the kitchen and rinse off your dishes placing them firmly into the dishwasher! Now fill the sink with soapy water and take a sponge or wash cloth and start rubbing the counter tops vigorously! When you finish with that begin wiping everything you see !! Music makes a lovely accompaniment to any cleaning you might have to under take! Tomorrow I'll tell you about cleaning the washroom! lol  That was my motivational pep talk for the day! lol ♥

  6. Just do one room every few days and treat yourself when it's done.

  7. Put on some usic that is happy and makes you wanna move around, and you can dance around while your cleaning .

  8. Put on some great music to inspire yourself, and remind yourself of how much better your place will look once its been cleaned. If it helps try getting some nice bits and bobs for the house to funk it up abit.

  9. The solution is simple.

Invite people to your house everyday :-)

  10. Take time out of what ever you are doing. Each day, and take EG. 20 Minutes to do cleaning, turn the radio on or put some of your favourite. songs on to listen to while cleaning.

If you don't go to the gym and you like the idea of loosing weight, then just think the longer you clean for the more cals your loosing! (:

Or you can have something after you have tided the house, like a glass of wine ma-be?

    hope I've helped!

  11. Get into the habit of tidying as you go along, that way you only have to force yourself to do a bit of dusting - when people are coming around.

Or reward yourself with some extra scoobie snacks when you've finished doing what you have to!!

  12. music + caffeine

  13. Polar Molar must be channeling me.  I feel the same as you.  I get tired very easily and quickly.  I have three children and a husband who are loathe to help out.  I don't get very many visitors either.  My motivation is non-existent most days.  You may be depressed, I know I am.  Try the suggestions offered by the other Yahooer's.  I'm going to.

  14. get the music on and polish out do one room at a time until you get up to speed windows open for fresh air and you will see that as one room gets smelling nice and fresh you will get into it once you start it will be fine but we are all the same we need to get started!!!!!!!!!!

  15. Irony_Man is right!

I too live by myself and have become a serious slob over the last year. I just can't be @r$ed with housework (and I used to get excited when a new cleaning product came out!).

So, once a week I invite my mum over for a coffee. It makes me tidy my flat, then she comes over, stays for a coffee (20mins max!) and leaves.

Leaving me to enjoy my nice clean flat by myself!

  16. Ditto mate, so once a week I go beserk, do the washing, ironing, cleaning the bathroom etc., my mum used to say that I dust one day and its back the next so why bother, shes right, but if you fall into that pattern its hard to get out of it, hang s****. snacks at then end of each task, they way you feel like you are being rewarded lol! :)

  17. Just give yourself a cutoff time.  Look at this:

  18. I was so like that, but once i got on top of the cleaning i came to love my clean house! I started by doing a rota, one room everyday, the first week, I was at each room for bout 3/4 of an hour, but gradually it got less, now it takes me bout 15 mins each night, some rooms are easier than others, but i try to do a bit of cleaning as i go along too, so its not so bad on the day! Best of luck with it!
