I just started college and I'm still undecided. I'm still deciding between a B.S. in Biology or Biochemistry. Anyways, I do plan to continue my education after I get my bachelor's. I might want to become a physician assistant which takes about 3 years to complete.

How can I get my B.S. in about 3 years??? Should I take classes during the summer??? Advice? Anyone with experience?

  1. Technically it is possible to get a bachelor's degree in about 2 1/2 years by taking 18 credit hours for both fall and spring semesters and then 9 credit hours during the summer, giving you a total of 45 credit hours per year.

However I would recommend that you take an extra bit of time and complete it in a little over 3 years by taking 15 credit hours each fall and spring, followed by 9 in the summer. Giving you a total of 39 credit a year.

Provided of course you pass then all first time.

  2. Yeah, its possible. Although, you have to be pretty dedicated and really good at scheduling into the future. Since you are getting a BS, I assume you are going into the sciences. Chances are, your classes will be sequential meaning they can not be taken out of order. Also, some classes may only be offered once a year or once every two years. If I were going to try this, I would take as many classes as possible over the summer (only entry level and gen-ed classes are offered over summer) and focus on my major requirements during the year. So, visit your counselor, figure out what your major requirements are, and figure out when classes are offered during the school year. Good luck!
