I have a Panasonic HT740, and hooked everything up to my TV and my DVDs play in the theater speakers just fine, but my basic cable (theres no cable box) won't play in the theater speakers... any idea?

  1. Connect your TV audio out to the ht740 audio inputs and select that input on the sound system. Make sure your audio outputs on the TV are set to a 'Fixed' output so you don't have to turn the TVs audio all the way up to hear it on the surround system. This will be in the TVs menu. You may also want to turn the TVs speakers off. A standard analog (red & white) cable will work.

  2. You will need to get a real receiver not a dvd receiver

  3. depending on the model you may not be able to incorporate any other inputs ie. cd tv find out the model # and then research your particular product

  4. run your cables through your tv.. or through your cable box (preferebly) and then take a gun and shoot yourself in the foot for buying a panasonic. www.onkyo.com

  5. I'm not sure if basic cable even provides proper audio for surround sound. I doubt it's even broadcast with surround sound if there isn't even a box. If you want to push it, you could probably talk to your cable provider about it but it's highly unlikely.
