How can I get my Garter Snake to eat crickets?

I have had a Garter Snake for about 2 weeks now and I have feed it gold fish twice so far with no problem. But I want to give my snake a good diet, so I bought 15 crickets for a dollar and my Garter Snake refuses to eat one. I have left a few crickets in her 10 gallon cage, I have wiggled a cricket infront of her, and I have rubbed fish on a live cricket so it gets the scent. So if you can help me on this with personal experence I would be very gratful. Plus any other advice about something I mite not know would be great too.

Thank for your time and help! God Bless!

  1. Garter snakes don't eat insects. They are fish and frog eaters. Avoid goldfish, they are not healthy for reptiles. Try rosey red minnows from the pet store or minnows from a bait shop.

  2. Live Casting England Vs South Africa 2008 test Cricket.

  3. Snakes don't eat crickets. They live on rodents (depending on size you can feed it pinkies--frozen baby mice), lizards...I never knew of a snake that would eat goldfish. Congrats.

They like big meals like the goldfish or pinkies, crickets are not enough. Lizards and frogs eat crickets. Never heard of a snake that eats crickets.

  4. Garter snakes don't usually eat crickets. Other food choices to make them have a healthy diet would be earthworms, slugs, and mice, usually fuzzies or pinkies. Garter snakes usually aren't that big.
