Question:

How can I get my annual Morning Glory plant to seed?

I started this plant from the cloned cutting I got from a friend. After over five years the plant has really taken off, producing lots of foliage and dozens of beautiful 'Heavenly Blue' flowers, but no seeds. Is there anything I can do that will stimulate it to start producing seeds?

  2. Seeds are the product of flowers, so if you have been getting lots of flowers and no seeds, your plant may be sterile.  You could try getting another, different type of morning glory and see if it pollinates yours.

  3. The seeds will form behind the flowers.Be patient!

  4. Your plant must be producing seeds if it is producing flowers.

Once the flower is "spent" (finished) it will die and produce a pod like thing.  It will die back as will the stem.  Once the plant appears to be completely dead, the seed pods will start to open and drop seeds.

You can take the pods off and break them open.  There are about four seeds per pod.
