How can I get my boss to see she needs to fire her front desk receptionist?

Whether or not the receptionist needs to be fired is none of your concern as you are NOT the boss. You need to focus on doing your job rather than being a little backstabbing weasel by taking actions to get the receptionist fired. IMO, backstabbers are about as low and slimy as you can get.

Backstabber! You need quit focusing on me and do your own d**n work. My activities during the day are NOT your concern. Oh and FYI...the boss has been watching YOU for several weeks now. Word has it that she's gonna fire your sorry butt because you spend too much time on the internet instead of working. She also knows you're trying to get me fired.

If the receptionist has done something illegal or immoral or something that will hurt the company in a very specific way - such as revealing a confidentail client list - then you should discuss it with your boss.  If the reason you want her fired is because you don't like her, then I agree with the other advice given.  Stay out of it.  Don't backstab.  Unless your boss is a total moron, in which case you should leave and work for someone better, she is probably aware of the receptionist's performance and accepts it as is.  Going to her with backstabbing antics is only going to make you look bad.

It's not your place to make executive decisions.  Do your job and earn your way to having that power through your own positive merits, not by stabbing others in the back.
