How can I get my broom bristles clean?

My husband took off with my broom one day to clean the basement and now my broom bristles are so gross that I dont want to use it on my kitchen floor. Does anyone have any tips on getting them clean so that I can still use it?

soak the broom into a pail filled with hot water ,some laundry detergent and a bit of bleach , it will be like new!

Use a brush (dust pan and brush) and get the bulk off. then soak the broom in a bucket of hot water with a cap full of bleach to kill the bacteria. leave it to soak for 30 mins then leave out to dry. And your good to sweep.

Depends- What did he get on the broom?

If it is just dust and dirt a normal soaking in bleach would work.

If Grease or some thing to that effect you will need to buy some industrial degreaser.  Soak as required and use.

Option 1) Spray broom with water and Simple Green, let it soak, swoosh it around on the driveway then spray dirt off.

Option 2) Buy a nice new broom and inform your husband that he now has a special basement broom he can use down there whenever he needs it.
