How can I get my brown racer (snake) to eat a pinky mouse?

The pinky mouse (yes, it is defrosted) seems kind of big for him, anyway .. I tried dangling it with a pair of tweezers, but he runs away from it. So, I left it in there with him. How long before it gets "old"?

  1. noooo don't do that...he WILL NOT eat it if it is not moving...the best thing to do is make him REALLY mad and when he gets really mad and strikes put the pinky in his face and he will strike at it and when he bites into it good he will eat it. He could possibly not be hungry or if he is shedding he will not eat until he is finished. Don't just dangle it...make it kind of wiggle around and stuff.

  2. Racers are one of the worst snakes you can have as a pet. I know you caught it since no one breeds them because they make such poor pets. They are usually ridden with parasites, can be extremely aggressive, and often will starve to death before they will eat in captivity. You're best off letting it go. But if you insist on keeping it, baby racers often won't eat rodents but prefer frogs. As they get older, they will eat more rodents. A wild caught racer often won't take a prey item unless it is alive, so it probably won't take a frozen/thawed pinky mouse.

  3. This is Gross but it really does work

    1. What you do is cut the pinkies head to his brain so that blood comes out, it almost always helps. Then dangle it with tweezers, be patient.

    Hope i helped, Good Luck!
