How can I get my camera to focus while filming?

I have a Canon Powershot SD1000 Digital Elph and when I am filming I need it to focus when I put something near the camera but it wont...How can I make it focus

  1. It should focus on the closer object.  Make sure you have it in autofocus mode and not manual focus.
