  3. The best way for your cat to be the healthiest it could be is to feed him the proper amounts of food. Don't over feed it, but at the same time do not stop feeding it, that can be very unhealthy.  In addition, there are certain kinds of cat food that are especially mad for cats that need to loose weight.  So the key to a healthy, not fat cat is to use proportions and feed it cat food made for cats that need to loose weight.

  4. don't feed it as much and play with it lot's

  5. Basically when you are putting an animal on a diet, you can buy reduced calorie and increased nutrient food, and feed them at specific times, therefore do not let them free-feed. This is when they start eating out of habit, just like people. Just feed your cat a preportioned amount of food twice per day, once in the morning, once at night. And buy toys for him to play with so he doesnt just sleep all day. Good luck

  6. Feed proper food for the species which means NO DRY foods aka kitty crack

Nutrition since there are so many bad things out there is very important to your cat’s health

Contrary to what you may have heard; dry foods are not a great thing to feed a cat.

Please read the label on what you are feeding? What are the ingredients? Do you know what they mean? Is the first ingrdiant a muscle meat like chicken or meal or other things?

Dry foods are the number 1 cause of diabetes in cats as well as being a huge contributing factor to kidney disease, obesity, crystals, u.t.i’s and a host of other problems. Food allergies are very common when feeding dry foods. Rashes, scabs behind the tail and on the chin are all symptoms

The problems associated with Dry food is that they are loaded with grains and carbohydrates which many cats (carnivores) cannot process.  Also, Most of the moisture a cat needs is suppose to be in the food but in

Dry, 95% of it is zapped out of dry foods in the processing. Another thing, most use horrible ingredients and don't use a muscle meat as the primary ingredient and use vegetable based protein versus animal. Not good for an animal that has to eat meat to survive.

You want to pick a canned food w/o gravy (gravy=carbs) that uses a muscle meat as the first ingredient and doesn't have corn at least in the first 3 ingredients if at all.    The best food for cats does not contain any grains at all.

Fancy feast is a middle grade food with 9lives, friskies  whiskas lower grade canned and wellness and merrick upper grade human quality foods. I would rather feed a middle grade canned food then the top of the line dry food.

Also, dry food is not proven to be better for teeth. Does a hard pretzel clean your teeth or do pieces of it get stuck? http://www.felinefuture.com/nutrition/bp...

    Please read about cat nutrition.

Vetinarian diets  The reason your vet thinks so highly of the pet food they sell probably has more to do with money than nutrition. In vet school, the only classes offered on nutrition usually last a few weeks, and are taught by representatives from the pet food companies. Vet students may also receive free food for their own dogs and cats at home. They could get an Iams notebook, a Purina purse and some free pizza.  http://iml.jou.ufl.edu/projects/Spring04...

  7. maybe give your cat less food or the same but less times a day? its possible to buy less fatty or less calorie cat food read the label on the cat food. or ask your local vet.

  8. My cat is 26 pounds

    of muscle! Lol

    I'd say cut portion sizes!

  9. starve him

  10. Try buying diatary cat food and feed it half as much as normal also try and leave it outside for a few hours so it can exercise?

  11. dont feed it as much

  12. I would talk to a Vet. You are probably just feeding him too much.  All cats are lazy.

  13. buy special diet food umm i think friskies has diet food

  14. Kittens need to eat kitten food, and unfortunately they don't make a 'diet' food for kittens.  Try cutting back on what you give him by 1/3 at every meal ... and when he's thinner then give him 1/4 more food than the 'diet servings' ... and when he's an adult, give him good 'diet' cat food ...

  15. you can get him on a diet now before he gets way to fat.
