Question:

How can I get my cat to stop dragging her water bowl?

I have a cat who can't seem to leave her water bowl in it's place. We have tried using a glass bowl, a thick plastic bowl, and even an automatic waterer.

Is there anyway I can get her to stop? We have tried everything, including duct taping the bowl to the wall!

Insight would be soooo helpful! Thanks!!!

  1. My cat does this too!  The only way i fixed it was, I designed an aluminum housing that held the bowl which made it to heavy for her to drag it. Later I upgraded to a automatic water dispenser and again it was too heavy for her to move.  After a couple of months I put the bowl back to see if she would still move it and she does!

  2. 1.umm fill the bowl with water and pat your cat on the head if he/she doest move the bowl.

2.if you're crazy like me ill use duck tape,Glue Gun,Nail Gun> to keep the bowl from being moved.

  3. Stop filling it. Otherwise, just let the cat drag it. It likes seeing the water slosh.

  4. just give away the bowl......if that doesnt work u can give away your cat.

  5. s***w it to the floor.

  6. They sell kids bowls that have a sunction ring at the bottom.  I think I've seen them at Walmart and Target.  Maybe these would help.

  7. I would have said tape it to the floor, but you said you already did that so try to train your cat not to. Like discipline her when she does that and praise her when she doesnt =]

  8. She does not like it there. It may just be where it is, maybe it makes her feel vulnerable to have to drink there or it could just be yet another cat thing that is only in her mind.  It's also possible there is a smell there that she does not care for or the warm air from an appliance blows across her face in that spot.

Try moving it somewhere else, if she still moves it your stuck with a water bowl moving cat. If that happens use it, put a mop on the bowl and let her do the floors for you. It's worth a try:)

  9. head but it or inflict some sort of punish ment every time it does it i know it sounds cruel but you dnt need to smash it just a tap on the paw and say no .. it worked with our dog that kept kickign its food around

  10. aw thats cute :)

sorry but i don't know what would work

  11. Get a very heavy water bowl.

Strong kitten, are you sure she is not a Lion or something?

  12. lol my cat does the same thing (at least one of them does..) yeah so whenever we bring the water bowl he drags it like all the way to us then he starts drinking. I really dont know why but he just does it.Maybe its a cat thing lol umm you could try like uhh try to put a mat under the water bowl so 1 he/she would spill it on the mat instead of the ground and 2 it would be harder to pull with the mat under. Or try to let them drink from the sink or something. for more info contact me add me or email me (isilrox at aol.com) k i hope i helped

  13. you put two bowls at two corners. if your cat takes two bowls, i do not know

  14. Maybe you can get a heavy cooking pan or something that she won't have any way of moving.

Cats are very particular about things like their water. Some won't drink if they see something floating in it, others dip their paws in first to test its temperature.

When I had the water dish on carpet once, some of them would claw at the carpet directly in front of the water bowl to make the water ripple for whatever reason.

I have one cat who follows me into the restroom all the time to drink from the faucet.

  15. Don't give her water!  Let her use the toielt bowl.

  16. VELCRO, for the dish, not the cat.

Get the double sided sticky stuff. place one side on the floor and the other to the bottom of  the bowl.

  17. nail it to the floor?

    :]] haha lol.

I think something like this will help, if the cat just likes the see the water moving.

If she drags the bowl to the same place over and over agian, you might try putting the bowl there?

  19. I have a cat who was doing this too and got her a pet fountain. Then I had to put a rubber mat under it because she was shoving the fountain around too! The rubber mat stopped the problem. I just wish I had thought of the mat before I spent $50 on the fountain! LMAO!!
