I hope there are some vets or fellow cat lovers with a similar experience that can answer this question. My cat was given an antibiotic (Clavamox) that he does not particularly care for is it safe to hide his meds in a small amount of milk (which he loves)? Thanks

  1. when i had liquid medicine for my cat, i put it in his food bowl

but he wouldn't eat his food

best advice is too hold him and stroke him, make him feel comfy

and when he meows just stick the medicine in

or you're going to have to move to force...

  2. my cats can detect medication in anything...except baby food. they love it, I told the vet my method of crushing pills and mixing it in baby food, she said that it's a great idea. Pure meat baby food though nothing with veggies or pasta. mix his antibiotics in baby food, he'll be none the wiser.

  3. A small amount of milk should be fine, but be warned the cat will probably smell the Clavamox and not drink it.Most cats love the taste of Clavamox. The best thing to do is get someone to help you, wrap him tightly in a towel and dose him as quick as possible.

    Good luck!

  4. I use the Clavamox drops and cats are good with it.  It doesn't hurt to hide pills in food if you can trick the cat into eating it.

  5. Hi Karen... cats are pretty clever and can smell the medication in their food, or treats, therefore it would be helpful to have another person help restrain your cat similar to swaddling an infant child.  Here's an instructional video on how to administer liquid medication to cats using several methods including the restraint method: http://partnersah.vet.cornell.edu/pet/fh...

  6. Cats can be tough to get medicine in!  I know with mine I use a dropper or syringe and you hold the cat like a baby in one arm and use the other hand to administer the meds.  Put the tip of the dropper in the corner of the cats mouth where he will have no choice but to swallow it (but not too much at a time, or he will, obviously, choke).  If your cat is squirmy, hold him in a tower or blanket like a baby and do the same thing (his arms will be tucked in, which makes it easier)

If you cat is too big to hold, milk or wet food should be okay to mix it with, but he may smell it in there and not want it.

    good luck.

  7. well if you have liquid medicine make sure two use very little and put medicine in food but he may not eat it?
