The other day my washer dryer went bang and will not work. Does anyone know how I can get my load of washing out without flooding the place? I inherited the machine when I bought the flat, so I dpn't know how old it is.

  1. No-one's told you how to open the door. You have to slip a very thin knife into the place where the catch is and push to the right. Make sure it's disconnected from the electricity supply first though.

  2. you could always take the water outlet tube out of the back and carefully lower it into a bucket or ten, then gravity will take hold and the water will flow! still have a lot of towels at the ready though. Good luck.

  3. There may be a small door at the bottom of the washing machine (on the front, depending on the model). If there is, there should be  pipe that allows you to drain the water out. If not you will have to pull the machine out and drain it from the pump at the back/underneath. lots of towels at the ready.  Aren't they fun, not!

  4. get 2 bin bags. put one inside the other.

put the bin bags inside the laundry basket.

sellotape or duck tape the edge of the bin bag to the front of the washin machine, under the door.

open the door slowly, the water will spill into the bin bags. put the clothes and water into the bin bags.

the laundry basket is there to stop the bags from splitting.

remove the tape from the washing machine

take the basket, bags water and clothes outside.

sort it all in the garden.

not sure if the door will open if the electric is turned off for a few minutes.

  5. Loads of towels just underneath the door and a bucket or bowl to hand to catch the worst of it.

I;ve been there, read the book, got the t-shirt and seen the film.

    Its the only way!!
