  1. How old is she?

I have toddlers, so what works best for us is an egg timer.  I just set it for 10 minutes and tell them they have to clean their room before the timer goes off.  Its a game.  I give them simple, single tasks to complete within that 10/15 minutes.  Just saying "clean your room" doesn't work with them.  They are still too young to fully comprehend what the means, but saying, "put your cars in their bin" or "make your bed".... they understand that.  We do as many tasks as we can before the buzzer goes off.  They just think its a fun game rather than actual cleaning.

  2. Don't hound her about it.  Children do things on their own time schedules.  I found that if I ignored the mess, shut the door when I walked by eventually the room would get cleaned.  I was very often pleasantly surprised to knock on their door and have it opened to an almost spotless room.

  3. Make a chart with pretty star stickers or something everytime they clean it they get one, if they are 16 that may not work. lol

  4. I think the best way is to do it with her. While you're cleaning the room with her, talk about something in particular so your daughter wouldn't feel bored while cleaning. If she wants to do it alone, while cleaning the room, put on some nice music to help make her feel more relaxed while doing it.

  5. It depends on their age. Toddlers need help, and are usually will to clean as long as it doesn't take to long. Children 5 and up do well with a 'things to do list'. They like to check off the boxes once they're done doing the choir. Teenage well there very little hope with them.

  6. The best way is to do it with her.  Kids really don't know what to do, they get overwhelmed.  If you start off by going into her room with her and "talking" your way through the cleaning, telling her exactly what she should do, and exactley what you are going to do (you pick up all of your clothes, I'm going to put the books back on the shelf) then eventually you will be able to just tell her what to do.  She will enjoy the one on one time with you, and the room will get cleaned.
