Question:

How can I get my dog to stop being so clingy?

I have two dogs, a one-year-old female Norwegian Elkhound who is very independent. My other dog is a male 3-year-old Keeshond. I love both of them like they were my children. The Keeshond has to follow me everywhere. Even into the bathroom!! If I don't allow him to, he just scratches on the door until I let him in.

I love the fact that he loves me and is so loyal, but sometimes the clingyness is a bit much. I got the other dog to keep him company...but that didn't work, he's still as clingy as he always has been.

Any suggestions?

  1. yeah, i had the same problem with my dog. she has gotten significantly better as time has passed (but it's been like 4 1/2 years now, lol). now i can be in a different room without her freaking out, but she still likes to be around me most of the time. she used to scratch at the bathroom door too, but i started leaving the door cracked open (i live alone obviously). at first she would come in, see me, then go back out and after a while she lost interest. i think they just wanna know that you haven't disappeared. :)

how long have you had him? if it's been a couple years with no progress i would recommend some obedience training. but that requires being very consistent and can be time consuming.

  2. U Shud Teach Them Commands Like Stay, Sleep. Thatll help you alot. If They Dont get it u shud act Angry for like 10 or 15 mins Then Go Play with them.
