How can I get my downloaded movies to play on my DVD player?

I watch movies all the time on the net. And download a lot of them. But when I put the downloaded movie ( DVD R disk) in my DVD player it just says error. And my DVD player supports Windows Media files. Do I need to convert the file? How would I do that?

  1. too vague, what software are you using? what os?

    you need to convert the downloaded movie to VIDEO_TS, then burn to DVD. Or, depending on the software, just burn the movie alone to DVD.
