Question:

How can I get my ears back to normal after a flight?

I flew home from Houston 2 days ago and my right ear still hasn't "popped". I've swallowed, yawned, eaten, slept and tried a bunch of other suggestions but I still feel deaf in one ear. Any ideas?

  1. chew gum as much as possible. next time you're on the plane chew gum!!!

  2. Ear cone candles. You can get them from any natural medicine store, or I would just google where to get them in Houston. Basically they are wax covered cloth cones. You put one end in your ear, and a friend lights the other ear on fire and it creates a suction and sucks the excess moisture and wax from your ear canal.

The last time I flew, they worked great, though seeing the wax afterward is really gross if you so wish to cut open the candle.

  3. I moved to a different state and I have had that problem for 4 years now. It has popped back to normal a few times since then but it always goes back.

I think that it has to do with the environment of where you're at. If you flew home then your ears should get back to normal on their own. You might be able to speed the process up by getting an ear candling done at a spa. It take alot of the wax out of you're ears, it's great.

    Hope that helps!

  4. The reason your ears do that is from them pressurizing the inside of the plane. Have you tried plugging your nose and trying to blow without releasing your nose?  IF that doesnt work try diving into the deep end of a swimming pool. sounds crazy but it works.
