How can I get my little girl to sit still when having her hair cut?

Her hair is really curly so i cannot cut it myself. but she won't sit still while getting it trimmed. I'm taking her to the hairdressers tomorrow, but how can i get her to sit still while the hairdresser trims her fringe and ends off?

It's all about motivation.  What motivates your tyke more than anything else in the world ~ her very top #1?  Figure that out and use it accordingly.  And FOLLOW THRU with it.  NO nice performance means no reward.  Good performance must be given an IMMEDIATE reward (1-y-o attention span being what it is).  

*Another idea*: if you have access to a portable movie/cd player ~ some movie or music she likes.  And, Mom, you need to remember to smile.  If she thinks you're having fun she may take the issue more lightly.

Easy!  Take her to the library or bookstore first and get a couple of books that she really wants to read.  Once you get to the salon, sit beside her and read them together.

have her sit on your lap. here in Augusta maine they have a place called fun cuts its all about kids. they have video games, tv, every kind of toy to keep there mids off the hair cut. my daughter has never been to a hair dress she went there for her first time and did greate. i would not take her to any other hair dress ex for Family fun cuts. maybe you have something like that around your area. but if you don't just sit her on your lap and maybe it will work. i hope this help. maybe bring a book or 2 and read them to her while she gets her hair done.

try bringing her favorite stuffed animal to hold or bring her favorite type of food to eat.

she might be too young for this but you can promise her to go somewhere afterwards if she is good.

I took my daughter to cookie cutters.. its a great place for first time haircuts.They have a video on while she will get her hair cut.But you would be surprised how differently they act when they are out getting their hair cut.She will love looking at herself in the mirror too.
