How can I get my media player back?

I clicked on something to update my windows media player with hopes to get a new version, not knowing that the computer I am using may not have a legitimate windows program. It downloaded media player 11, but will not open it until I verify that my windows is legitimate. I just want my player back. I NEED IT! Can anyone help me undo this mess. I do not have the $$ to fix the windows mess.

Was the old program replaced or is it still there somewhere?

You need to have a genuine Windows edition on your PC or else, you won't be able to install a few programs from Microsoft onto your computer. You will have to buy an original license from Microsoft to install it. Go to http://www.microsoft.com for more info on making your Windows copy original, and thus be able to install WMP11.

And yes, if you don't want to go through all the hectic $$ stuff, you can uninstall this version of Media Player and go back to the last one, WMP 10. Go to Run and type appwiz.cpl and uninstall WMP11 by searching for it in the list. Or else go to Add/remove programs in Control Panel. You can also go into the folder where you've installed it, and uninstall it from there.

Once, you uninstall the 11th version, you'll have your previous version back. Hope your problem gets solved.

Forget windows media player, It is the worse player there is.

Install Gomplayer instead. It is free and does anything you want it to play.No need to download extra codecs etc.
