How can I get my own wireless internet?

I have a windows vista acer laptop and i want my own wireless connection instead of having to 'steal' my neighbor's wireless connection which does not always work.

Do i need to get a router or something?

how do i get my own wireless and what do i need like what type of router?

Well, yes you do have to get a router i suggest you get a Wireless N router for best signal and range but make sure your laptop is compatible with Wireless N

First, your laptop must be compatible with Wi-Fi. Then just buy one of those wireless routers. The farther the range the more expensive. Then just connect it to your DSL/Broadband/Cable/etc. Then just do what you did with your other route if you have for your DSL,etc.

Call up your internet service, and tell them you'd like to get a router for your internet. They can come out and install one for you.
