For 7 months I have only been drinking spring water or lemon water, I only eat fresh fruit and veggies. nothing cooked or processed no pasta, rice, grains,sugar...nothing but fresh fruit and veggies. Mostly veggies though. I eat almonds for protien just a few cashews as I know cashews are acidic. I do workout lightly, walking only 3-4 days a week. I have been soaking in sea salt baths for one hour each night for the last 6 weeks as well. I finally got my urine PH to spike to 7.5-8.0 right after I eat lunch , a salad of course. But all day long my saliva is never over 6.0 no matter what I do. I have even eaten salads for breakfast, lunch and dinner. only usiing organic veggies, dressing is lemon juice, apple cider vinegar and a little extra virgin olive oil. I have had a physical and am in perfect health, low blood pressure everythng is good. Whats wrong?? I even eat one whole lemon a day..I have tried drinking baking soda as well, that does nothelp either...whats wrong?

  1. First, why do you eat acidic food if you are trying to raise your pH? Wouldn't this have the opposite effect?

Second, it seems like the saliva should be tested before, not after, a meal:

"You sit down to eat, you get the aroma of your favourite mealtime dish, you are ready to chow down and something begins to happen in your mouth. You begin to salivate. This is a reflection of the enzyme amylase kicking in for the starch digestion process. This enzyme needs a range of pH ideally around 7.2 pH. So if you have adequate alkaline reserves in your body, testing your saliva pH as you salivate before a meal should give you a pH reading of around 7.2. If your pH is not getting up to at least 7.0, you can assume there is stress in your alkaline reserves and the further below 7 it goes, the more depleted are those reserves. You could also suspect digestion all around is not doing so well. This typically indicates a longer term problem and more serious effort needs to be applied to help  restore overall health. "

Finally, it might be wise to ask a MD if you think this is impacting your health. You may not need to be at the statistical average of the saliva pH to be healthy...
