Question:

How can I get my textbooks back from a "friend"?

I thought this person was one of my best friends. I had known him for years. Now suddenly he's ignoring my calls and messages for no reason I can decipher. Once I called with a different cell phone and he picked it up and talked nervously and making obvious lies all along. Now hes also ignoring the number from that cell phone and probably decided to not pick up any strange number. We both planned to transfer to a different university but I'm not too sure if he does indeed transfer. So there's also no obvious way to encounter him in person since I don't even know where he is.

The real problem I have is that he borrowed a lot of items and textbooks from me. How can I get that stuff back? Lawsuit won't do much because I don't have any written agreement that he borrowed all these things.

  1. A big lesson you learned here was never trust such friends by loaning them something. The other way would to be just go to his house and confront him there, that way he either as to say I never borrowed them or sorry they got lost. Either way really you know you will never get them back.
