My unborn child is due 8/8/08 and her father is incarcerated, but acknowledges paternity. How can I get his name put on the birth certificate? I do not want the birth certificate to say, "father: unknown."

  1. when they ask who the father is.....tell them...duh

  2. Maybe they can send him the paper work.

  3. when you have the baby the hospital will give you some papers to fill out, one part to fill out is Birth cert. info, he doesn't have to sign or anything.

  4. After the baby is born they will ask and you should fill out papers stating that he is. Then when they mail it to you it should be on there.

Congrats, Good Luck and God Bless

  5. MY CHILDRENS FATHER HAD TO PRESENT WITH ID IN THE STATE THEY WERE BORN! BUT I DO KNOW OF A WOMAN THAT HER HUSBAND WAS IN JAIL WHEN HER SON WAS BORN. ALL SHE HAD TO DO WAS WAIT UNTIL HE GOT OUT OF JAIL AND GO TO THE SS OFFICE AND HAVE HIM SIGN PAPERWORK THEN AND THE SITUATION WORKED OUT! MAYBE YOU SHOULD ASK THE LOCAL OFFICE WERE THE BIRTH CERTIFICATES ARE ISSUED AND SEE WHAT THEY CAN TELL YOU BEFORE YOUR BABY ARRIVES SO YOU CAN BE AWARE OF ALL YOUR OPTIONS! GOOD LUCK!

  6. The same thing happened to my brother he was in jail when his son was born. My sister in law was able to go to the jail and give him the paperwork to sign.  They were able to put his name on the birth certificate.
