My friend asked me to sing for her wedding and im flattered. Problem is, I haven't sung in front of a crowd since my senior year in high school (5 years ago). My voice isn't bad by any means but my technique and tone have decreased since then because i don't use it as much at all.I really don't want to s***w up her wedding ceremony! Any suggestions on getting my voice back up to par? Her wedding is 2 months away!!!

  1. Get a vocal warm up exercises CD and practice as much as you can.

You could always take some singing lessons too...

  2. Yes! Do vocal warm-ups every day! I had this same problem when I started my band. If you don't have a chance to manage a couple sessions with a vocal coach beforehand, I would highly suggest going back through your classical repertoire and busting out the old warm-ups.

Breathe correctly! Practice breathing from your abdomen every day during work. It's amazing how much we forget to do this when we're not in choir practice!

Sing. Record. Listen. Sing again. Record. Listen. Video yourself singing, play it back, and note what you hear that you don't like. Do it just like you did in choir.

But, basically, I think you're stuck with the good ol' warm-ups from choir!

  3. I'm only a teen, I but  warm my voice up by using a piano and basically just singing the notes. Eg; Press a B then sing it with "Ma" or I use "Mo" "Me" "Ma, Mo ,Me" and "Oh" Emphasising the vowels on all of them. If that makes any sense.

    =)
