  1. Im in the Navy and do ALOT of travelling, your american cell phone wont work at all unless you find a cell phone store or someplace "underground" who can unlock the phone for you so you can use the local nations cell phone towers. It isn't always cheap to have this done so if you wouldn't want to tamper with your phone, I suggest buying a cheap unlocked phone with a prepaid sim card (the sim card will have s set number of minutes and can be used anywhere including the USA) the sim card normally costed us between $7-$15 USD and has more minutes that you can use. Hope it helps...

  2. My friend went to Spain last year with a Tmobile phone...her phone had multi band capability.  Without that, you are out of luck, but her Tmobile, I think, covered it.  Call your provider, and make sure everything is in place before you leave.

  3. you could do that, or you could just buy a phone card. or, just buy a cheap international cell when you're there. i just use an international cell that i got at walgreens.

  4. Go to t-mobile with your phone, and ask them to unlock it.  When you get to Greece (I assume you're flying into Athens) as soon as you go through the customs line, and get outside the doors, look to your right.  You will see a store called GERMANOS.  Go there and tell them you need a Greek sim card.  They will put it in for you, and you will have a Greek phone number for your phone!! (They deal only with Vodaphone and Cosmote.)  You can also buy prepaid time for your phone.  When you need more minutes, you can buy them at any Germanos shop or even a periptero, which is very convenient!!
