Question:

How can I get myself to push it? ?

I'm in XC and at first, I kind of sucked, but I quickly got better. The other day, we had an interval workout and the coach said to run it at a comfortably hard pace and that we shouldn't have been dying at the end. I didn't do too bad, but I could have done it a little faster. I really want to get good, but I just don't know how to push myself. My mind tells me to stay at the pace I'm at, but I want to get fast and the only way to do that is to run fast.

  1. Tell ur mind to keep going. Tell urself that ur almsot done, just a few more intervals to go.

    I know its hard and painful but thats the way racing is supposed to be.


  2. you dont wanna be too comfortable but know when you push yourself too hard.

    you want to be faster than you would usually run at but not so fast you dont feel good.

    once in a race i pushed myself too hard and my lungs felt like they were on fire, i couldn't breathe, and i threw up....

  3. by not knowing ur pushing yourself and letting ur body progress without pushing it.

  4. just push yourself harder, everytime your mind tells you to stay at a pace but you feel like going faster - try it!

    not all the time though, try it out and see how you could handle it

    just this morning we did oregon drills and i wanted to see how leading was; so i tried and got a feeling for it

    --> it feels as if its a surge of speed and motivation, a surge that is continously surrounded by the chances of burning out

  5. It's all mental. If you can get the thought that you are tired and sore out of your head then you can do whatever you want.  It sounds simple, but just deliberately make yourself go harder when you want to, tell yourself and if you don't do it then that's your own fault. If you can listen to music, then find something to pump you up and get a fast paced song, and step to the, step to the, rhythm of the beat!
