I'm in XC and at first, I kind of sucked, but I quickly got better. The other day, we had an interval workout and the coach said to run it at a comfortably hard pace and that we shouldn't have been dying at the end. I didn't do too bad, but I could have done it a little faster. I really want to get good, but I just don't know how to push myself. My mind tells me to stay at the pace I'm at, but I want to get fast and the only way to do that is to run fast.
