Question:

How can I get non-runny white make-up and a prosthetic smile for my "Joker" costume?

I want to be The Joker for Halloween. However, I want it to be realistic. I don't want to wear some giant dumb mask, nor do I want the cheap Cartoon Costume.

What I want is a similar outfit to Heath Ledger's Joker in The Dark Knight, white, non-runny (by that I mean it shouldn't come off without soap or, at least, doesn't come off with sweat) face-paint for my face and neck and some chest to look like bleached skin, and something to give me a "permanent" smile (a prosthetic or something like that), and, of course, green hair-dye.

All help is appreciated. Thanks.

  1. Kudos to you for wanting to do a decent costume instead of taking the easy root. I hate it when people don't take pride in their costumes!

Prosthetics are great! Go to any decent costume/prosthetics. If there aren't any in your area, there are a few quality ones on the internet.

If you're looking for the Nicholson smile, Awen Creations Makeup Studio has one on hand under "Jester Smile": http://www.awencreations.co.uk

The staff are very friendly and reply to emails promptly. There's also a range of spirit gums, dyes, paints and fake blood in that store to make everything more realistic. There are scars avilable so oyu can edit your own look, and they also do customs, so I'm sure they'd be happy to whip up a Ledger style Joker smile for you if you write to them. (You also get discounts for your next purchases!)

Also, currently there are a lot of prosthetic and latex kits on eBay. Just look up something to do with prosthetics, Joker and maybe throw in Dark Knight.

As for the green hair, in the Nolan version it's more dirty, faded and unkempt than the "cartoony" style Joker, so don't go too overboard with the colour. Maybe just spray on a bit of quality flexible green hair colour - NOT the stuff that clumps and plastics though. If your hair's light, you could apply green food colouring for that dirty, unkempt look. Also, never doubt the effect of a good quality wig that's been lightly teased and dyed.

    Hope that helps a bit!

  2. I found this really cool Joker Makeup Kit http://www.clicket.com/Products/The-Joke...

  3. if you have a halloween or costume shop in your area, that would be the first place to look. they will have everything you need from the costume, makeup to hair spray that will make your hair green like that.

  4. wait until right b4 halloween and all the stores will come out with the right makeup...they'll have the white face paint if u want some black liquid liner works great and doesnt run or come off easily.....and when october comes around look up halloween stores in ur area on google their seasonal...

  5. I would get some white face paint from a quailty costume store.

I'd use either black eyeshadow or the same type of paint for the eayes.

and for the mouthish part i'd use some cheap lipstick.

green hair dye is super easy to find, but dont buy the cheap stuff, it makes our hair all hard and gross and you wont get the messy effect.

    Love the joker, hes amazing!

oh and for the costume i'd try secound hand stores, i mean its in a few months so you have time to look.

I got my vamp costume enitrly from there, and i was one feirce ***** lol
