Question:

How can I get on a consistent sleeping schedule?

I go back to school on August 19, which means I have roughly nine days to get on a schedule so I can wake up early enough. School starts at 8:00am, and I want to wake up at 6:30am. Currently I'm waking up at about 8:00am and falling asleep between 12:00am and 1:00am. Any help?

Please don't suggest staying up for 24 hours and going to sleep early. That doesn't work for me--when I get too tired I get nauseous.

  1. Try setting your alarm for 7:30 for the next 2-3 days, then 7am for 2-3 days, then 6:30am.

If you drink coffee, drink it in the morning.

Try to get some sunlight soon after you wake up. It helps reset your biological clock.

If you are super sleepy and have to nap during the day, no more than 1/2 hour in the morning or early afternoon.

Try to go to bed as soon as you feel sleepy.

Don't watch tv, eat or read exciting stories soon before going to bed.
