  1. As a professional floor sander i can tell you that paint strippers and other chemicals are messy, sometimes hazardous, and more work than they are worth. Chances are your floors oak or pine. I say pine because they seem to get painted alot in my line of work. Floor sanding is the only way to go but heads up! If that paint is older than the 80's chances are its lead so wear good dust masks and vent well. Also people tend to spend more on the sand paper than the machine. And with a painted floor you will go through alot of paper, trust me. Get a bid from your local sanders, it's worth it.

  2. Afta by Gardsman or Goo Gone.

    Home Depot

  3. It's important to know what kind of wood you have.  I've tried the products available but man, let me tell you, the mess involved.  The solvents continually eat at the paint, while wet, and the paint keeps bleeding. As soon as the solvents begin to dry, the paint becomes impossible to wipe up.  Pain in the ****, all the way around.  You could do like I did and spend 75 bucks or so, and have the nightmare of a mess to contend with or Rent the sander for about 2x the amount, that should include all the belts or pads.  Much easier way.  Good luck either way.
