How can I get pin striping to stick on my pontoon boat?

I put pinstriping on my pontoon today it wants to lift up and not stick good. Does anybody know how I might get it to stick now that its on?

  1. If on the aluminum it will be hard as it oxides> Pin stripes or stickers are installed when new and smooth>


  2. Make sure you wash the area where you want the stripes to be applied to get the dirt and wax off first.  Then rub some alcohol on it and let it air dry a minute or 2 before applying the stripes.  If They don't stick after prepping the surface like this, they probably have bad adhesive backing.  If you just purchased it, return it to the store and try another roll.

  3. pinstriping for marine application is different than auto's, marine pinstriping has a more aggressive waterproof glue, but if you haven't put it in the water yet it shouldn't be lifting up unless it was stretched a little too much during application.

    when it is applied you can't stretch it or it WILL start lifting up

    regardless of the type of striping.
