I'm going on a couple of very long plane rides with a laptop, and the battery won't last long enough. How could I get power so that I have unlimited power on the laptop and don't have to worry about the battery running out? Thanks!

  1. An extra battery or two is your only hope, unless you're flying in 1st class or business class.  Those areas sometimes have outlets to charge laptops.

  2. :( Sorry the airplane doesn't have a battery charger. Maybe you could buy an external battery where you could plug in when your laptop starts running out of battery. Or just don't use the laptop the whole time.

    Enjoy and have fun!

    :]

  3. Unless you're lucky enough to travel on a plane that has power outlets in the seats you're pretty much out of luck.

As others have mentioned you can purchase a spare battery.  You can also charge your laptop while waiting at the gate area.  Look around and you'll most likely find a power outlet along the wall or in a column or pillar.

To make your battery last longer you should only run the program(s) that you need.  Turn off any security programs, spy ware, etc as they all consume power.  You should also adjust the brightness of your screen.  The brighter your screen is the more power you drain.

You may also want to go to your local electronics store and ask what they recommend you do to conserve power.  I know my computer has a setting where I can boot it up and it will only run the DVD player.  In this setting it won't open Windows which saves quite a bit of power.

  4. Some flights do have power at at least some seats. As someone pointed out, power outlets are much more common in first and business class, but they're no sot rare in coach.

Check out seatguru.com for seat-by-seat specifics, including whether power is available (and if so, which of the three types of outlets.)

  5. overunity... or you could steal from the headphone jack, but i don't think you would get anywhere near the amount of amps you need though.

  6. Spare battery is your best bet.  Some airlines did install power outlets on some planes but you will need to check with the airline(s) your are flying with as to whether they have them.  Also, normally needed special adapter as the regular plugs do not work in them.

  7. i don't think thats possible. but have a charged spare of battery (i know that will cost you)  i believe there is no power outlets in airplane.  thats why when i ride a plane, laptop users just use their laptops for few minutes and turn it off to save some power i guess.
