  1. I don't know that they actually do training for this. At least I've never heard of it. Can't you just read the side of the extinguisher? There should be how-to directions there. If you're reaaally worried, call your local fire department and ask if they have any training programs for fire safety. Probably the fire extinguisher would be covered in something like that.

  2. follow the instructions or check with your local Fire department

  3. I'm sure that someone at your local fire department would be more than happy to show you the proper use.

And YES, there is a proper way to use one. At my job working with the developmentally disabled, our local fire department comes out once a year to train/retrain on the proper use. Using it the wrong way could actually make the fire spread. (ie. spraying at the bottom of the fire could push it as opposed to spraying at the top of the fire and smothering it.)

Here is a good online site to learn about fire extinguishers and how to use them:

  4. Call your local fire department. They will be more than happy to assist you in training to use a fire extinguisher properly. We do it all the time for anyone. Just because the instructions are on the side, it doesn't necessarily mean they're easy to understand. Also the FD can provide you with something you can't get by shooting it off in your yard, practical experience with a real fire. This way you're sure how to use it properly. So don't be embarrassed, just give your FD a call.

  5. Its got the instuctions right in the side of it.

  6. I don't think that you would really need anyone to train you to do this.  The instructions should be on the side, but most extinguishers, you just pull the pin and pull the trigger.  You aim your tube at the base of the fire, and work your way through.  You could always take it outside and practice and just take it to get recharged when you are done.  Hope this helps you.

  7. Don't mean to sound snotty, but read the instructions on the label.  It's really quite simple.

As an added element, you may want to take your extinguisher into your back yard and shoot it off a couple of times, just so you know what happens. In doing this, however, be sure not to exaust your extinguisher.

  8. read the directions and than practice with them over and over again with the extinguisher

and if still you cant figure it out go to the local fire department who will be more than glad to help you

  9. ask the local fire department if you still don't understand after reading the directions

  10. Read the directions.
