How can I get ready for taking an SAT test?

I want to go study in America, but here in my country we dont have the SAT test. We do have it, like it is accesible, but it isn't used other than for students who are going to the USA. We will be having our final exam in June 2010 so I would be hoping to be in college for Sep 2010.

So when should I take the SAT test?

And I will probably have to teach myself how to do the test, so what would be the best revision book for that?

  1. cram like crazy!!

    review notes!

  2. I think it is best to start of with the college board book (the maker of the SAT-- get the 2005 and beyond version) since you have no idea what the test is like. If you want to expand your knowledge with more strategies and practice tests, then you can also try other companies. => Look on google books too; you will find many.

Some websites give you an overview of the test and also have practice problems. You may want to try them if you have internet access:

    www.collegeboard.com

    http://www.sparknotes.com/testprep/newsa...

    http://www.majortests.com/sat/

    http://www.onlinetestprep.com/engine/def...

If there is someone from your country who has taken the SAT, then ask them how they prepared. Then, you can consider following his or her way.

You should probably take the SAT fairly early (maybe fall of 2009) so that you have time to retake it if you are not satisfied.

    Good Luck!!
