How can I get rid of AntiVirus 2008?

Question

i am about ready to rip this laptop in half because this stupid program decied install itself on my computer, i just need to know how to remove it with out having to download more dumb programs i have to pay for, im seeing a pattern, anyways anyone have any ideas, and i mean legit like tis has happned to you and this is what you did legit.

make sure you turn off system restore first and run this

Download an run the the following free software, delete what ever they find should leave your PC free of infections:

Once you have removed it keep Avast and download Comodo Pro firewall, then switch to Firefox 3 if you are browsing with IE this should stop it returning. (links on my profile)

Yes, this did happen to us - it was hard to remove, our spyware software did not catch it.  I was unable to successfully remove it with a free download called Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.  The website is www.malwarebytes.org.  They suggest, and I agree, that you should print the instructions, so that everything that should be checked, is.  It worked great for us - good luck to you.

This is the good one.  I am a regular at removing spyware and viruses but the first time i saw this one it took about 4 hours.  This is what i did.  First download the following: ccleaner, malwarebytes antimalware, adaware, avast, and spybot search and destroy.  Now install everything but avast.  in this order run scans adaware, spybot search and destroy, and then malwarebytes.  You will have to reboot several time chances are.  Then after all the scans run ccleaner and also do a registry fix.  Now remove your current antivirus and install avast.  Hope this works

You should install super anti spyware

Then, with your PC in Safe mode (its better when you have a virus)

You should run a complete scan with both softwares that you just downloaded.
