I have a 3 month old rooster that I know i cannot keep. One of the 6 chicks i bought turned out to be a rooster. Pretty soon he will get very noisy and i want to find him another home, but i don't know who would want him. He sort of looks like my rhode island red hens but has greenish tail feathers.

  1. find a Pet rescue they may know a nice farm for him.

  2. I think the previous poster had a good idea about Petfinder.com and the rescue groups.  Most animal shelter will also take them, but then you won't know his fate.

If the only reason you want to get rid of him is because you think he'll be noisy, you might want to wait.  Not all roosters crow a lot.  He might turn out to be one of the quiet ones.

  3. Not sure where you live, but in my area our animal control / ASPCA accepts roosters. Then they contact the rescue centers and if they can't be adopted out, they go to the rescue center.

    It's worth checking out anyway.

(Did you try putting an ad in the newspaper? Of course say "pet only")

  4. I had four extra bantam roosters that I had tried to find homes for with craigslist, hoobly, free cycle, and petfinder for weeks.  It didn't work.  However when I gave them away at a garage sell, I found good homes for all of them in a day.

  5. Put ad up to sell bird for 10-15 dollars people will buy him or ck local farmers around some will take for you or a ranch that has critters.or some animal shelters will accept and fing a good home for it.some flea markets or farmers markets will also buy them.

  6. Put him on petfinder.com or look for a local chicken rescue group.  I'm sure you can find him a home.
